Acrison Volumetric Feeders are universally recognized for their unique ability to accurately and reliably feed an extremely broad variety of dry solid materials. Their innovative and technologically superior designs provide exceptionally versatile metering performance. The quality of construction and durability of these volumetric feeders is unsurpassed; their maintenance requirements are the lowest in the industry.
A true volumetric feeder encompasses a positive method of measuring a specific volume of product and a means to effectively discharge that material, generally over a variable range. With an auger type volumetric feeder, the auger is the means used to measure volume, discharging the measured volume of material with each revolution, as it rotates through a discharge spout. Consequently, the viability of any auger type volumetric feeder is dependent upon how uniformly and consistently the feed auger is filled with product, and how reliably this is accomplished.
Even in view of today’s technological accomplishments, the precise and dependable volumetric metering of dry solid ingredients remains far more of an art than a science; unquestionably, specific expertise and experience plays the most crucial role. And since it is also a well-established fact that no single approach to dry solids volumetric metering has been able to solve all materials-handling variables, Acrison has designed and manufactures a number of different auger type volumetric feeder models in order to successfully handle the incredible number and diversity of dry solid materials. Each of these individual volumetric feeder models possesses specific functionality, suitable to handle a range of product characteristics.
For example, feeding very free-flowing products such as coffee beans, grass seed or plastic pellets really doesn’t require much mechanical sophistication; however, to accurately and dependably meter sluggish amorphous materials, especially those with adhesive, cohesive and/or pressure sensitive characteristics, can be a challenge.
Today, Acrison produces dry solid volumetric feeders that range from single auger devices to handle the generally easier free-flowing materials, to various type dissimilar speed, multiple auger metering mechanisms for the more difficult-handling products.
All of Acrison’s various model volumetric feeders are available with a number of different size metering augers – interchangeable on each of the individual model volumetric feeders – to cover a specific output feed range. Overall feed rates range from 0.0012 to 8000 cubic feet per hour, depending upon the selected feeder model and the size of its metering auger. In addition, and as standard, all Acrison volumetric feeders are equipped with variable speed drives that cover a wide operating range.
Acrison’s ruggedly built Model 101 and 130 Series Volumetric Feeders are specifically designed to accurately and dependably meter granular or pelletized (free-flowing) dry solid ingredients.
Acrison’s heavy duty Model 105 and 140 Series of Volumetric Feeders for dry solids feature a unique, dissimilar speed, double concentric auger metering mechanism designed to accurately and reliably meter a very wide variety of dry solid materials. The metering mechanism consists of a large conditioning auger or intromitter, concentrically mounted around a smaller, slower rotating 'metering auger', operating at dissimilar speeds in a fixed proportion to each other by a single variable speed gearmotor.
Acrison’s ruggedly built Model 1015 Series of Volumetric Feeders for dry solids feature a dissimilar speed, dual auger/agitator metering mechanism in a specially contoured feed chamber. Rotation of the larger 'conditioning' agitator produces bi-directional agitation of product within the feed chamber to ensure positive downward flow into the metering auger beneath. When permitted to feed until empty, only a minimal amount of residual product will remain in the feeder.
Acrison Models BDFM, BDF-1 and BDF-1.5 Volumetric Feeders combine two flow-inducing augers/agitators, counter-rotating at the same speed, with a metering auger operating at a proportional, but dissimilar (slower) speed for accurately and reliably feeding a broad variety of dry solid materials, including those considered difficult-to-handle. All remaining Model BDF Series of Feeders (the Models BDFX-1.5, BDFX-1.5-2, BDF-2, BDF-2.5, BDF-3, BDF-4-1 and BDF-5) are designed with individual heavy-duty drives for the dual augers/agitators and metering auger(s).
Acrison’s Model BDFX-1.5-2 Volumetric Feeder is a version of Acrison’s uniquely versatile Model BDF-1.5 Feeder; however, aside from the dual conditioning augers/agitators, which are independently driven, the Model BDFX 1.5-2 also includes two separate, independently driven metering augers. When combined, the two metering augers produce a very wide feed range. Specifically, the Model BDFX-1.5-2 Feeder eliminates the undesirable task of changing the metering auger of a continuous dry solids feeder whenever an uncommonly wide feed range is required. Additionally, the Model BDFX-1.5-2 provides both high (rapid feed) and low (dribble) feed outputs for batching applications.
Acrison’s Model 170 Series of Volumetric Feeders for dry solids are specifically designed for complete product cleanout without the need for disassembly or mechanical changes. These feeders 'self-empty' when permitted to operate until empty, and also feature a novel discharge port for rapid material emptying when needed—making them ideal for applications where rapid product changeover or bare minimum downtime is critical.
Acrison’s Model 170-1-2 and 170-2-2 Volumetric Feeders for dry solids are designed for both continuous and batching applications incorporating a highly versatile metering mechanism featuring two independently driven metering augers for the accurate and reliable feeding over an exceptionally wide feed range. The design of the Model 170-1-2 and 170-2-2 Volumetric Feeders completely eliminates the undesirable requirement to change the size of the feeder’s metering auger whenever a feed range is required that cannot be effectively achieved by a single size auger.
Designed to meter a wide assortment of dry solid ingredients at the lowest possible feed rates, the Model 170-MI-5 Volumetric Feeder includes a flat bottom feed chamber that attaches directly to the mating outlet of its supply hopper. In operation, a slowly rotating horizontally mounted conditioning agitator within the feed chamber, promotes flow out of the feeder’s supply hopper and into the feed chamber, where the sweeping rotational action of the agitator conditions the material to a consistent state, while simultaneously filling the metering auger for accurate product delivery.
The Model 120 Volumetric Feeder features a flow-inducing 'Recipro-Pivotal' (R-P) Hopper mounted above a feed chamber housing Acrison’s unique Dissimilar Speed, Double Concentric Auger Metering Mechanism. The integral oscillating hopper produces a positive downward flow of dry solid ingredients into the feeder’s feed chamber where the Dissimilar Speed Double Concentric Auger Metering Mechanism conditions the material to a consistent state, while effectively and reliably filling the metering auger from a full 360º.
Acrison’s Model V101 and V130 Volumetric Feeders are primarily designed to feed dry chopped fiberglass strands from 1/8” to 5/16” in length.
Acrison’s Model 905-18 has been specifically designed to meter 'strand-type' materials, such as fiberglass, typically with lengths from 0.4 to 0.75 inches, including such products containing a small percentage of moisture.
